Science Camp 2017 April 3 - April 7, 2017

SCIENCE SCHOOL STAFF Science school instructors are highly qualified Two Registered Nurses (24 hours per day) Instructor to student ratio is 1:15 Instructors sleep in the cabin w/students 10-12 MBMS teachers present

CLASSES Students assigned an activity group. Students expected to participate fully in all classes at camp The classes are aligned with the 6th grade science curriculum

7:00 a.m. Rise and shine 8:00 a.m. Breakfast 9:00-10:30 Class Session A 10:30-12:00 Class Session B 12:30 p.m. Lunch/Break 1:30 Recreation 2:30-4:00 p.m. Class Session C 4:00-5:30 p.m. Class Session D 6:00 p.m. Dinner/ Camp Store 7:30-9:00 p.m. Evening activities 9:30 p.m. Lights out

BEHAVIOR Students are still in school Stress that they represent MBMS Consequences similar to school 3 strikes policy Make good choices Be nice Work hard

MONDAY MORNING No zero period Bring luggage to P.E. blacktop 7:30-8:00 a.m. Drop off luggage at assigned bus Students go to Period 1 after the bell as usual, then we load the buses No shorts allowed on bus, bring warm coat on bus!

LUGGAGE 2 pieces of luggage (one for clothes and other for sleeping bag) Put tags on luggage Students can bring a small backpack on bus. NO FOOD! Students don’t need school books Don’t forget chap stick! Bring a water bottle

WHAT TO PACK? Pali Mountain Institute located near Lake Arrowhead; elevation 5,000 ft. Students need a warm coat! Hiking/snow/rain boots (Uggs don’t work in snow) Beanie, gloves and EXTRA socks! Sleeping bag and cover sheet Flip flops for the shower

MEDICATIONS Fill out Pali medical forms online Camp will give meds according to your directions Bring medication to MBMS nurse one week before departure (3/27). Pick up medications from nurse’s office when students return

COMMUNICATION Parents are encouraged to send letters early Students can write letters home during rest time each day Phones are not available for student use Students are not permitted to bring cell phones! Site director, science teacher, or RN will phone parent if there is a concern Periodic email messages from principal to e-list subscribers

FRIDAY RETURN Once we arrive, students may go home Return time: 1:30- 2:30 pm Check email: Mrs. Linz will send arrival updates Pick up prescriptions from health office

REMEMBER NO cell phones NO iPads, Apple watches, electronics NO food, gum, candy Cards are OK Camera is OK Bring something to read (Kindle OK but not Kindle Fire)
