Todo acerca de mí All about me

Ask somebody’s name and respond. All About Me Ask somebody’s name and respond. Ask somebody’s name and respond.

¿Cómo te llamas? ¿Cómo te llamas? = What’s your name? KAL: Double L in Spanish is pronounced as a “Y” sound, as in “yellow”. Practise chanting this with the class. It’s a good one to do the a clapping beat.

¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo Mercedes. Me llamo... = My name is... Practise this with chanting. Try swapping the name with a character they know from television or a learning assistant from school. Use a ball to throw and have a conversation. If teaching an older class, have a competition to come up with a mnemonic to remember the spelling of “llamo” to help them to remember the double L at the start.

¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo Mercedes. ¿Y tú? See whether pupils can remember from learning greetings how Mercedes would say “And you?” to find out Ana’s name. See who can say what Ana would answer.

¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo Mercedes. ¿Y tú? Me llamo Ana.

Activities Print off some pictures of characters the class will recognise and see if they can complete the sentence “Me llamo...” for each. Write some characters’ names on little pieces of paper, fold them up and put them in a hat. Pupils take turns in pulling out a piece of paper and completing the sentence “Me llamo...”. Put up some pictures of some characters the class will recognise in your school hall and complete the sentence “Me llamo...” aloud yourself. The pupils have to run to the correct picture.
