STARTER

KEY WORDS SPONSORSHIP – Backing performers financially in return for advertising a product. ADVERTISING – Displaying a product, name or logo in public. GOODWILL – Supporting a performer or sport financially without any monetary return.

TASK Complete the table on the worksheet using your own ideas.

ADVANTAGES FOR THE SPONSOR For financial gain. Make company more popular. Seen regularly and create an image. Gain through tax relief if they sponsor a sport. Promote a caring image if the correct sponsorship is used. Be used to test new equipment. For goodwill, the sponsor may sponsor for no financial reward.

ADVANTAGES FOR THE PERFORMER At a lower level: Coaching Equipment for the sport Entry Fees Transport and travel expenses Personal expenses Providing the correct diet Clothing for the sport At an elite level: - Lots of money!!

ADVANTAGES FOR THE TEAMS - All equipment provided. Lots of money so they can attract better players Some sponsorship deals include stadiums being built and sponsored e.g. The Reebok Stadium.

ADVANTAGES FOR SPORT AND THE EVENTS Gives the sport/event financial security. Money spirals down to lower level clubs. Attracts the best performers to the event if more money available. Improvements can be made to facilities and administration within the sport or event.
