Classroom Expectations Bring all needed materials to class. Remain on task at all times. Speak at appropriate times, using appropriate voice and language. Respect yourself, others, and the property of others. Follow all school rules.

Other Policies Sharpen pencils at beginning of class Use the restroom before class only Plain water only, NO food or other drinks; including flavoring packets (Crystal Lite, Mio) If I see the gum, it’s gone No cell phones, per school policy E-readers/tablets are allowed if you are reading but will be confiscated if used to play games or as an unnecessary calculator. They may not be used to take notes.

Supplies A 1 ½ in binder with 5 dividers Loose leaf paper Graph paper Pencils (Mechanical pencils cut down on sharpening time at the beginning of class) Pen Any kind of 4-function calculator (I have a class set of TI-73 and TI- Nspires for us to use at school) Agenda Consider having markers, crayons, and other artsy supplies at home.

Do I Need a Calculator? Yes! You will be expected to complete most assignments without the use of a calculator. However, there will be a few assignments that DO require you to have a calculator AND you must also have one for TCAP. Mrs. Bybee has class sets of TI-73s and TI-Inspires for us to use during in class activities.

More Expensive Calculators We Have at Meigs $75-$150 L to R: TI-73, TI-83+, TI-Nspire (old ones we have), TI-Nspire (new color screen!)

Affordable Calculators To Buy $10-$20 Any of the TI-30’s are great buys! Look for the square root/cube root key. It is especially nice if the calculator has fraction functions.

Grading Policy Will look very different from previous years You will be graded based solely on what you know and how well you demonstrate that you have mastered the skills. There is now an Effort/Conduct Grade in each course. Therefore, YOU are responsible for producing work that demonstrates your knowledge AND for putting forth significant effort to produce that work.
