What is an interior designer? An interior designer is someone who works with and decorates the inside of buildings Can work freelance or can be hired by a certain company Requires creativity, organization and many other skills

Education Pathway Not much experience or special training is required Becoming a certified interior designer requires two to five years in design school

Working Environment Their working environment greatly varies depending on their clients and focus points Some work in comfortable settings such as offices, usually for large companies

Typical Day There is never a routine or typical day for an interior designer Plan out and select materials needed for the project Discusses with his or her client

PROS & CONS PROS Designers who work for large scale companies are less stressed and work regular hours However self-employed designers usually make more money depending on skill level CONS Freelance designers are more stressed and work more because they are self-employed

Income/Salary In the United States, an interior designer makes between $20,000 to $80,000 a year Average annual wage is $48,000 Depends on client as well
