Haig continues to order the Royal Nfld. Regiment over the top. Huge casualties 3. Vimy Ridge (1917) – Canadian troops take the Ridge at Hill 145. It fosters a sense of national pride back home. 4. Passchendaele (1917) – “Battle of the Mud” – heavy rains cost both sides thousands of lives as Haig continues to send men into battle.

Military Services Act – enforced conscription
