January 4 Today’s Agenda SSR Quick Write – Write about a time you stuck up for someone. Vocabulary Grammar Upcoming unit – Film to text How to summarize – Ch 1-2

Vocabulary Mainstay (n)– the most important part of something. The part that supports everything else. The mainstay of the Roman military control of Italy was the splendid system of roads. Odyssey (n)– a long, eventful journey. My year long trip was an odyssey of discovery. Grueling (adj)– so difficult it’s exhausting. It was a grueling two-day walk up the mountain.

Grammar Over winter break, I went to Cambodia and had a great time. I am sure that I had more fun than you.

How do we summarize? Someone – Who is the main character? Wanted – What did the character want? But – What was the problem? So – How did the character try to solve the problem? Then – What was the resolution to the problem?
