Abstract Art based on rural and urban areas in the UK Year 5 Summer 1 A View To Our World Maths Writing We are learning how to read and interpret line graphs as well as covering formal written methods of calculation on the four operations (multiplication/division/add/subtract). We are also keeping on top of finding square, cubed and prime numbers, as well as finding the factors and multiples for a range of numbers. We will be creating a persuasive argument about whether or not Year 5 should be taken on a school trip to New York. We will then be looking at and creating our own holiday brochures (persuasive writing) on New York. Geography To understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of Sussex and North America (New York) PE We are very lucky to have our PE specialists back this half term and they will be covering all things athletic. Swimming lessons have also re-started. Art Abstract Art based on rural and urban areas in the UK To explore the work of Piet Mondrain. To respond visually to different types of music. To experiment with line, marks and colour to express moods, emotions and atmosphere. To make my own composition in response to music. French RE In French, the children will be taking part in café role plays and understanding a simple story about animals. In RE this term we will be learning about the beginnings of Christianity and it's link to Judaism. As Pentecost approaches, we will learn the story  behind this festival and make connections between this and the Jewish festival of Shavuot. Music  Year 5 are composing and performing a contrasting piece of music that reflects a city and countrywide scene. They will be singing and playing tuned and un tuned percussion.
