Habitat for Humanity strives to assist individuals and groups who are interested in actively responding to the need for decent housing in their community and around the world. Habitat for Humanity believes that young people can become actively involved in sharing the vision of a decent house in a decent community for all. More about Habitat

I established the Hangzhou International School Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter this year. We are going on our first build next month to Krabi Thailand. Where we will be assist in building a house for a family of three . Check out the HIS website Habitat for Humanity is a people-to-people partnership drawing families and communities in need along with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable housing. Habitat is committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities, not only to the building of houses.

As teachers our jobs are not simply teaching the students about specific subjects. We are also teaching them how to become well-rounded and productive global citizens. One of our goals is to create an international community that motivates and inspires students to ignite change, embrace environmental and humanitarian stewardship Mission Statement of Youth Programs   To capture the imagination, energy and hope of young people in order to productively and responsibly involve them as leaders in the work of Habitat for Humanity.

Information about Habitat Thailand The build in Thailand will be a life changing experience for all of us. We will spend two days after the build in Krabi discussing our experience and debriefing. Once the students have had time to reflect individually and as a group it will be time to connect with others with similar experiences from around the world. Information about Habitat Thailand Habitat works with people of all backgrounds, ethnic groups and religions to build decent houses in partnership with families in need. Habitat’s operations are spread over dozens of countries and territories.

Global Citizen Project H.I.S. Habitat For Humanity Thailand Build The students will be sharing their experiences in two ways with two different audiences. They will collectively create a PowerPoint presentation to share with the rest of the school. H.I.S. H.F.H. will be creating a wiki on Wikispaces for communicating with other youth chapters of Habitat for Humanity from around the world.

Global Citizen Project H.I.S. Habitat For Humanity Thailand Build Power Point Presentation Project Objectives Give the students the opportunity to share their experience with their peers. Educate others about Habitat for Humanity Actual pictures of the build/trip they just went on Feelings and experiences the students encountered Opportunity for their peers to ask questions and stimulate discussions on the issue of eliminating poverty housing.

Global Citizen Project H.I.S. Habitat For Humanity Thailand Build Power Point Presentation Project Criteria Students will collaborate to create a dynamic multimedia presentation using: Photographs Video clips Sketches Written text from journals Audio clips

Global Citizen Project H.I.S. Habitat For Humanity Thailand Build Wikispace Project Objectives Each Students will contact a Youth Chapter from anywhere in the world and invite them to share their experiences on the Wiki we create. The purpose of this collaboration is to create a medium for an international community to discuss and share their experiences with Habitat. To establish connections around the world and hopefully build global citizenship. Would be great to do a build with one of the Youth Chapters we connect with.

Global Citizen Project H.I.S. Habitat For Humanity Thailand Build Wikispace Project Criteria After contacting another Youth Chapter each students will create a page for the Youth Chapter to post their pictures and information. Each student will be responsible for managing and monitoring this page. Students will be encouraged to maintain an ongoing dialogue with their (and other) chosen chapter.

Global Citizen Project H.I.S. Habitat For Humanity The project will be a continuous work in progress. Every year we will catalogue our builds in PowerPoint shows. The contacts we make will grow our international community of students who are motivated and inspired students to ignite change, embrace environmental and humanitarian stewardship world wide as true global citizenship.
