Do You Have God’s Comfort?

Opening There are times we feel down, all alone, like the world is on top of us. Who hasn’t felt that lonely, dejected, and depressed as some time in their lives. We can even have many loved ones around and still feel we are all alone. It is at those times that we need the tender hand, a loving touch; we need someone who cares and comforts. One of the special blessings of knowing God is the peaceful knowledge that no matter what happens to us in this world, God is there to care and comfort us. In addition, we have a friend, a Savior, one who is described as our high priest who can sympathize with us, even at our most weakest moment.

Opening Heb 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.   There has been many sermons preached about the comfort of God. Most are of great sentiment, but some completely wrong. We do need to know that God is a God that comforts; Jesus is a friend indeed. However, we must also realize that God’s comfort is not like that of a human being. People have been misled that God can put His hand around you and wipe away your tears. When it comes to divine comfort, God has been very humanized. This have brought God’s comfort to a lower level than it actually is.
