Watch the following clip – write down any techniques they use to make you feel sympathy for the animals and how they persuade you to donate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsnOxmp7zbM

What does a good persuasive piece of writing include? Success Criteria:

Watch the following clip – look at how the writer has used role reversals to help persuade you… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh1OwvhYbxg&feature=relmfu What does the writer do? What techniques does he use? What is the success criteria for that advert?

That clip was 30 secs long – Your turn Write a script for the animals that will act as a voice over for that clip. You need to include some element that refers to how the animal is being treated. Include the things you said made the advert successful…

Female animals talking… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a3xmgqJtcM&feature=relmfu This clip is 29 secs long – watching without sound! Note down how long each character speaks for (you may have to count the secs in your head)

Now write the voice over for this clip… What do you think they are saying about the dog that comes along? Look at her body – what could they be talking about?

Read out the voice overs… Have they persuaded you to donate? Have they used the success criteria elements we asked for? How can they improve?
