GRID Budapest Ministry of Environment and Water The ”Soul” of NEIS: Environmental Basic Registry (EBS) Its Aim: The main goal of EBS is to ensure a common basis and background to the storage of data which are required and used by many sub-systems. Thus it can fulfill the following tasks: Uniformly registers common core data, which are independent of sub-systems Integrates the data on client, object and material of the sub-systems into a single data base. It identifies them nationally, independently of sub-systems. (KTJ, KÜJ,) Provides a variety of usage of data collections, which are with differing objectives and effective environmental protection management Ensures the possibility of an effective cooperation between different sub- systems The sub-systems get the basic data from here

GRID Budapest Ministry of Environment and Water “A future feature will or should be integration where the so far partial solutions, activities will become interconnected without harming the necessary professional depth of each detail. In the same way, integration relates to the gradual connection of possibilities which are offered by informatics. Thus, a gradual shift should be made from registry via analysis towards the support of decision making.” (Ministry of Environment and Regional Policy, Information Strategy, 1993)
