Naomi Cook #INWED17 Design Team Lead A-one+ I took an unusual route into engineering after graduating from university with a degree in Media. During my summer break, I took a temporary technical support role at a consultancy, quickly getting involved in a number of transport planning and road safety projects. Seeing my potential, they offered financial support for me to go back to university on a part-time basis and complete a Masters (MSc) in Transport Planning and Management, enabling me to embark on a career in engineering. I went on to specialise in road safety engineering and, over the years I have gained extensive experience on both the local and strategic road network, as well as becoming an experienced road safety auditor. Since joining A-one+ I have been given a great number of opportunities and it’s hard to pin-point a specific highlight of my career, but I have very much enjoyed working on projects as wide ranging as writing a number of successful award submissions, being part of the bid and mobilisation team for the Area 12 and 4 Asset Support Contracts and working with some passionate stakeholders on a joint-funded road safety engineering, education and enforcement project in the East Midlands, that went on to win the Prince Michael award for Road Safety.” #INWED17 A-one+
