BATAVIA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 2007-2008 BUDGET/PROPOSITION PRESENTATION

REFLECTIONS OF OUR SUCCESS Spring 2006- BCSD recognized by Business First at the 35th best public school district in WNY. The previous year we were ranked 47th. Even more noteworthy, when they factored in our socio economic environment we were recognized as the 7th highest overachieving school district in WNY.

SUCCESS… At the conclusion of the year the District was notified by Commissioner Mills that statewide, for the second consecutive year, BHS and Jackson were identified as “High Performing/Gap Closing schools! For the first time BMS was recognized by the Commissioner for achieving this status

SUCCESS… At the conclusion of 2005/06 the District was notified by the NYS Education Dept. that all of our schools and identified subgroups had met the Annual Yearly Progress benchmarks that have been established by the NY State Ed. Dept. and the Fed. Government. 2006 STEP Report: Class of 2006 94% achieved the grad. requirement in English 96% achieved the grad. requirement in Math

SUCCESS… During the 2006/07 school year: four (4) BHS seniors are enrolled in enough credit bearing courses at GCC to be considered full time GCC students During the 2006/07 school year: BHS has 201 students enrolled at GCC, in a total of 916 credit hours. By taking these classes our students/parents have saved $73,280 over the GCC Tuition, $121,828 over SUNY Tuition and $496,472 over Private University Tuition.

SUCCESS… Last years graduating class (Class of 2006) consisted of 167 students. 38 of these students were members of the National Honor Society 141 of these students are pursuing a higher education. 65 are attending 4-year colleges with 76 attending 2-year schools. 9 members of the class entered military service. 149 members of that class received regents diplomas.

SUCCESS… 4 of our graduates earned a Technical Endorsement seal from the Genesee Valley BOCES and 8 students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. To reward them for their efforts the Class of 2006 was awarded $4,102,210 in scholarships, grants and cash awards.
