Nursery One – 2 turning 3 Working alongside others and familiar adult Joining in whole class activities – songs, stories Confident to talk within the classroom after settling in period Commences potty training Expresses own interests

Nursery One – 2 turning 3 Beginning to mark make Growing independence in self care, e.g. washing hands Showing an interest in their environment Begins to play make-believe Experiments with construction materials

Nursery Two: 3 turning 4 Extending play ideas in a group Making friendships Begins to use number words in their play Fully toilet trained Enjoys carrying out tasks for their teacher

Kindergarten Two: 5 turning 6 Beginning to develop a deeper understanding of empathy Starting to take more responsibility over actions Is interested in, and wants a greater involvement in, school life Confidently and accurately talks about past and future events Group play is collaborative, cooperative and highly imaginative

Kindergarten Two: 5 turning 6 Can write own name and is interested in writing friends names Becomes more interested in letters / writing in the environment May begin reading and writing simple words and phrases Confident counting objects / discussing numbers in real life situations
