What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Instructions You will be provided with a picture that depicts a work environment similar to your site / office, or another location where employees might find themselves outside of work The picture will show various safety hazards that could lead to injury As a group, or in smaller teams of 2-3 people, ask employees to identify as many of the hazards as they can find As they identify hazards, ask them to suggest how the safety concern can be reduced or eliminated Review their answers by showing the second picture highlighting the hazards Reinforce that it is everyone’s responsibility to be proactive in identifying and correcting safety hazards When there is a safety concern, “Someone should do something” That someone is you!

Cords across aisles are a tripping hazard Cords across aisles are a tripping hazard. Use other outlets, rearrange tables and desks or keep cords flat on the floor and secured with a protective cord cover.

Uneven concrete can trip you up, especially if you are distracted while walking. Keep your eyes on the path and report the hazard to facilities maintenance.

Don’t let power cords stretch across aisles. Find another outlet.

Pit is open and unprotected Pit is open and unprotected.  Work should be completed from inside the pit.  Or, the vehicle should be positioned with rear bumper on upper level away from the pit.
