The Role of School Counseling Services Provide direct student services - focusing on academics, personal/social, and career needs Collaboratively develop Individual Graduation Plans (IGPs) Assist in removing barriers, so students can live, learn, and work

If you need help in a class… Ask your teacher! They are available to help! Every department offers tutoring before and after school. Ask your teacher for the tutoring schedule!

FRESHMAN CREDIT REQUIREMENTS Go for 8! Remember: You need a 60 or better to pass a class. You also cannot have too many absences or you will fail the course, regardless of your grade. Grades and attendance matter Future course placement (CP, Honors, AP) Meeting graduation requirements Earning scholarships

Attendance Policy You should attend school everyday. If you miss more than 5 days in a semester long class,10 days in a year long class, or 3 days in a nine week class, you face the possibility of losing credit. If you are absent, you must turn in an excuse to the attendance office within 3 days of returning to school. If you have any concerns about your attendance, you should speak with Ms. Bubb in the attendance office.

Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Information South Carolina 4-year colleges 3.5 cumulative GPA 1200 SAT or 27 ACT Top 6% of class at the end of 10th, 11th, or 12th grade Or 4.0 cumulative GPA 1400 SAT or 32 ACT *Scholarship information as of August 2016 $6,700 first year in college, then $7,500 the next three years 17

Making an Appointment to Speak with a Counselor Students can complete a “Request to See a Counselor” form before or after school, during lunch or between classes. Your counselor will call you in as soon as they are available. In case of an EMERGENCY, students will be seen immediately by any available counselor. Parents may request an appointment with a counselor by calling the School Counseling Department at 820-4031. 20
