GOD’S PURPOSE Proverbs 16:9 Matthew 1:20-21

‬‬“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs‬ ‭19:21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

‬‬“And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."”Matthew‬ ‭1:19-21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs‬ ‭19:21‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Plan: an intention or decision about what one is going to do. Purpose: the reason for which something is created for or why something exists.

Are you living in your plans or are you living in God’s purpose?

BIG IDEA: A LIFE FOR GOD IS A LIFE THAT SETS ASIDE ITS OWN PLANS IN ORDER TO LIVE IN GOD’S PURPOSE.

How many of us when our plans didn’t seem to go our way divorced God’s purpose for our lives? How many of us focused on our own plans instead of placing our focus on God’s purpose?

YOU CAN NOT FULFILL GOD’S PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE WHILE FOCUSING ON YOUR OWN PLANS. --Unknown

“Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:39‬ ‭ESV‬‬

TO LIVE IN GOD’S PURPOSE REQUIRES DEEPER FAITH, DEEPER TRUST, DEEPER OBEDIENCE.

Are you willing to say yes to His purpose Are you willing to say yes to His purpose? Are you willing to say Yes to THE UNKNOWN? If so, then you must be willing to have faith in something that is supernatural? You must trust in something that is impossible to be done by man. You must show obedience to something that is UNKNOWN to you.

FAITH ISN’T A FEELING. IT IS A CHOICE TO TRUST GOD EVEN WHEN THE ROAD AHEAD SEEMS UNKNOWN. BE OBEDIENT EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE OBEDIENCE MAY LEAD YOU. --Sinclair Ferguson

BIG IDEA: A LIFE FOR GOD IS A LIFE THAT SETS ASIDE ITS OWN PLANS IN ORDER TO LIVE IN GOD’S PURPOSE.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your specific purpose You have for me. Help me to live in Your purpose and to have faith in Your purpose. Help me to trust in Your purpose and to know that You have everything under control.

Help me to obey You even when I don’t know where it will lead me Help me to obey You even when I don’t know where it will lead me. Grant me the ability to hear Your voice and the courage to follow where You lead even if I lose my life.

In living in Your purpose, I recognize that I will lose my life but will find my life as I daily live in Your purpose. Help me to find my life in You so I can experience the unknown in You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
