Presentation transcript:

WE SUPPORT BOTH and wish to play an active role in both Careers Profession Task Force Recommendations 10 & 11: The Task Force recommends an overarching national kite mark to validate the different CEIAG quality awards for schools, colleges and WBL providers AND for a Quality Standard for ALL providers of future ‘careers services’ WE SUPPORT BOTH and wish to play an active role in both

Benefits of CEIAG Quality Awards The most effective CG builds upon sound careers education Quality awards help schools and colleges to : Recognise and share examples of good CEIAG provision Raise the profile of CEIAG at a strategic and operational level Promote continuous improvement and developments in CEIAG Audit their own CEIAG services….hence careers guidance providers support young people gaining skills and knowledge for career choices and career planning

CEIAG Awards in schools and colleges - the current situation LSIS survey indicated that within 63% of local authorities survey (2010) 50% of schools and 49% of colleges either hold a quality award or are working towards one Private careers companies and some local authorities have developed their own awards We support the Task Force view, accepted by Ministers that an overarching national kite mark would allow LAs to retain local, bespoke quality awards, whilst also assuring schools and colleges that each award meets a nationally recognised level of excellence

CE Task Group on Quality (Response 1) We aim to enhance the growth of the evidence base of the positive impact of CEIAG…..hence the TG….. Offers to and expects to play a major role in the development phase of the new over-arching quality mark Offers to facilitate an event to bring together reps from the 18 quality awards for Careers Education. Offers to support processes culminating in recommendations for the ‘mark’ and the national award

CE Task Group on Quality (Response 2) Aims to support the growth of the evidence base of the impact of effective careers advice and guidance on social mobility, achievement & economic well-being Offers to and expects to play a major role in the development phase of the QUALITY STANDARD for organisations/providers of the new All Age Careers Service – argues that NO PROVIDER should be able to trade unless meets the same QS Offers to gather evidence of impact of the revised current MATRIX Standard in 2011
