“Be Doers of the Word” James 1:19-25 PRACTICING A CONSISTENT CHRISTIAN WALK: A Study in the book of James “Be Doers of the Word” James 1:19-25

“Be Doers of the Word” James 1:19-25 (ESV) 19  Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20  for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21  Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22  But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

“Be Doers of the Word” THE TEST OF A TRUE BELIEVER: I. The Test of THE RESPONSE TO TRIALS: (1:2-12) II. The Test of THE RESPONSE TO TEMPTATION: (1:13-18) III. The Test of THE RESPONSE TO TRUTH: (1:19-27)

“Be Doers of the Word” III. The Test of THE RESPONSE TO TRUTH: (1:19-27) A. Our Reaction to the Word: (3 suggested considerations) “be quick to hear” “be slow to speak” “be slow to anger”

“Be Doers of the Word” III. The Test of THE RESPONSE TO TRUTH: (1:19-27) B. Our Repentance: (vs.21) “Filthiness” – moral defilement; sexual impurity; “Wickedness” Evil corruption; sin that is deliberate;

“Be Doers of the Word” III. The Test of THE RESPONSE TO TRUTH: (1:19-27) C. Our Resolve: (vs.22) Hearing translates in action: “be doers” Doing the Word is your best defense against deception: “deceiving yourselves”

“Be Doers of the Word” Life Steps…. You must allow the Word of God to do its work. (Listen, Think and Act) Continually remove the filth of this world from your life. Resolve to be a DOER OF THE WORD!
