GISC PRETORIA STATUS REPORT

Road map for Implementation of GISC Pretoria Pretoria is a Regional Telecommunication Hub (RTH) for the Southern African region Pretoria was under review as the GISC and DCPC by ET-GDDP since 2011-06-01 South Africa (Pretoria) was approved by CG/EC on the 22-05-2013 as a National Center (NC) An Information Management System was acquired from IBL Software Engineering in second half of 2013 GISC Pretoria was audited on 14-15 April 2014 and was found to be compliant with all requirements GISC Pretoria was endorsed by the WMO on 15 May 2014

Hardware Infrastructure Discover Weather server Virtual (Vmware), Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5430 @ 2.66GHz (2 cores), 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD Duplicated hardware at DR site (vmware) which is situated at SAWS Johannesburg office For redundancy, the GISC server is replicated daily to the DR site

Network Infrastructure SAWS is connected to MTN via RMDCN 2Mbs, implemented in 2011 Linked to UKMET (GTS connection) on RMDCN since May 2012 International Internet bandwidth at Internet Solutions of 6Mbs and SANREN 10Mb for international use National Internet connection of 1Gbs

Software Installed The operating system installed on the GISC server is CentOS 6.2 (2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64). The application software: Discover Weather Administration Portal version 1.4.4, running on GlassFish 3.1.2 Discover Weather Public Portal version 1.4.4, running on GlassFish 3.1.2 Moving Weather 1.6-7 Discover Weather helper applications 1.4.4 Oracle Database Standard Edition 11.2
