Staunton & Corse C of E Academy Parent information evening 2/3/16

Why has assessment changed? Government initiative ‘Assessment without levels’. No more level 2 as expected achievement for Y2 and level 4 for Y6. Each primary school free to choose own systems. Old system had been altered from original intentions ie abc

What system are Staunton & Corse Academy adopting? We are using ‘Below’, ‘Within’ and ‘Secure’ bands. Bands generally apply to year groups i.e. 1 – 6. These are for end of year expectations so most pupils will not reach within or secure until June/July. Some pupils may be working, for example, at band 3 whilst in Year 5. .   Reception Emerging Expected Exceeding End of Year 1 target End of Year 2 target End of Year 3 target End of Year 4 target End of Year 5 target End of Year 6 target 1s 2s 3s 4s 5s 6s

Will be based, like GCSEs on how pupils have scored nationally. Results Will be given on a scaled score – mark from test will be converted to a score of around 100. Will be based, like GCSEs on how pupils have scored nationally. Don’t know yet whether this will be from 90 – 120, 0r 95 – 110 or 0 - 150. Believed result will be given as ‘at expected standard’, ‘exceeding expected standard’ and three different ‘have not met expected standard’ levels for Year 6!

Video Multiple changes for us…. KS1 writing – all !.? with grammar & spelling – only imaginative part is noun phrases Must stay true to our principles, engaging and inspiring children – will they use ‘beautiful’ or ‘nice’??????
