OLD BUSINESS

Charge to the Ad Hoc Committee Investigate feasibility of a college-wide 7.12 document and identify areas of concern. Committee findings One collegiate 7.12 could be possible because there is similar language (or synonyms) across the units. It would be necessary to represent the different cultures. Question whether it would be politically advantageous.

7.12 AD HOC COMMITTEE (CON’T.) 7.12 Ad Hoc Committee met with Faculty Leadership Committee (FLC) in May 2016. Final 7.12 Ad Hoc and FLC recommendations: Keep individual unit 7.12 documents. Explore opportunity to utilize common language across unit 7.12’s. Ensure that collegiate P&T Committee members are knowledgeable of review criteria to be used.

NEW BUSINESS

COLLEGIATE ACADEMIC PERSONNEL PLAN Provost’s Office requires that all colleges submit a personnel plan. CDes drafted and submitted a plan to Provost in 2010 However, the plan was not reviewed and acted upon at that time. Current draft builds on 2010 draft. Consultation has occurred with the following groups: Senior Leadership Group Faculty Leadership Committee Adjunct Faculty Leadership Committee

COLLEGIATE ACADEMIC PERSONNEL PLAN (CONT.) Edits made to the draft after consultation. Included with agenda Personnel plan needs to reflect the detailed practices of each unit.

FACULTY UNIONIZATION To date University disagrees with recent Bureau of Mediation Services (BMS) decision to include Unit 11 lecturers and teaching specialists in Unit 8 faculty bargaining unit. University asked BMS to reconsider its ruling; BMS will not reverse ruling. MN Court of Appeals agreed that University does have the right to appeal BMS decision. University has 30 days to consider whether to proceed. Importance of voting -- could occur in January For more information http://www.umnexcellence.org/ http://facultyelection.umn.edu/background http://www.mnacademics.org/
