First Year Commuter Student Session WELCOME TO BOBCAT COUNTRY! New Student Orientation, Summer 2017

Finding your place, making friends and connecting academically and socially to campus are a few of the keys to your success as a Texas State Bobcat. Through programs and resources, we aim to provide an inviting environment and supportive network for students that are living off campus during their first year. We attempt to ensure you remain as connected to the university as if you lived on campus.

Academic Resources “Texas State University has a plethora of different resources for students and I utilized several of them. As a commuter, I realized I needed to utilize all of my free time as best as possible. With every opportunity, I went to one of the quiet levels in the Alkek Library. 2017 First Year Commuter Student “I didn't really use any good study habits until a third of the way into the semester. This had a very negative impact on my first few exams. I neglected some of my classes when I should have treated them all equally. Also, I probably would have bought a commuter meal plan.” Academic Support Services: PACE Center (Academic Advising, Career Exploration, Mentoring & Academic Coaching, and US1100) - http://pace.txstate.edu/ Alkek Library - http://www.library.txstate.edu/ Student Learning Assistance Center (SLAC) - http://www.txstate.edu/slac/ Writing Center - http://www.writingcenter.txstate.edu/ Math Tutoring & Computer Lab - http://www.math.txstate.edu/resources/lab.html Student Support Services - http://www.sdi.txstate.edu/sss/ Brilliant Bobcats College Success Series (Time management) http://www.studentsuccess.txstate.edu/programs/Brilliant-Bobcats.html Computer Labs http://www.its.txstate.edu/departments/academiccomputing/computinglabs.html
