They counsel us: To find the truth, to be sure it is the truth To buy it and sell it not

Responsibility to Accept and Hold Truth Matthew 13:45,46 “Pearl of Great Price” is the Truth Commanded to “Buy the truth” Parable teaches to be willing to sell all to “purchase the truth”

What is Truth? Must be able to Recognize the Truth Not everything you read, hear or see is true

What is Truth? Jew – Torah Catholic – Catechism Latter Day Saint – Book of Mormon Others – Truth is relative What is true today is not tomorrow In Spiritual matters – “Your word is truth” John 17:17

“Buy the truth” Implies one can Read and Understand the Truth – Ephesians 3:3,4 Can understand God’s plan of Salvation Can understand How to worship God Can understand God’s plan for the church – Ephesians 4:12 Can understand God’s plan for church organization- Philippians 1:1

“Buy the truth” Studying the Word of God is Very Important So we can rightly divide it – 2 Timothy 2:15 Old and New – Hebrews 10:9 First four –Gospels- give biography of Christ Acts – book of conversion – “What must I do to be saved?” Letters to churches and Christians Revelation – given for encouragement

“Buy the truth” We are Commanded – 1 Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:3 Must be Prepared to Pay the Price The Merchant – Matthew 13:46 Truth is often expensive Home, job – Luke 18:28-30

“Buy ALL the Truth” NOT Part of it! Luke 18:18-25 Acts 10:33 Wish all had this attitude What is your attitude toward truth? Is truth important to you?

BUY IT No value in just knowing it What does it mean to “Buy the truth?” Believe it Obey it Stand for it Sacrifice for it

BUY IT NOW! 2 Corinthians 6:2 NKJV 2 “For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

“Sell it not” Don’t sell the truth for any amount Nothing else is equal to it in value In law, all court proceedings are base on witness telling the truth Jury decides on basis of truth Good business depends on it Marriage – Matthew 19:6 1 man for 1 woman for life with 1 exception

Most Important Application of Truth is in Religion John 8:32 NKJV 32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.“ 1 Peter 4:11 NKJV 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Will You Accept God’s Plan of Salvation? Will you accept His pattern of: Worship as set forth in the New Testament His pattern of Organization His Word as the Standard by which you live your life
