Nucleus -the brain of the cell -contains DNA

Cell Membrane -the outer part of the animal cell -controls what goes in and leaves the cell -flexible

Cell Wall -plants and prokaryotic cells -stiff outer layer, covers cell membrane -provide support and protection

Vacuoles -store water and waste -large in plant cells, small in animal cells

Chloroplasts -typically green cell parts that capture the sunlight -contain chlorophyll which is used in photosynthesis

Mitochondria -”powerhouse” of cell -turns sugar into ATP

Lysosomes -mostly in animal cells -digests food, waste, invaders

Ribosomes -cells can have many -make proteins
