Mentoring young leaders for
In GCI, we’re on a journey: From union to communion, making disciples with Jesus. “Making disciples” is our participation with Jesus in his ongoing ministry in the Spirit to… Seek the lost Nurture believers Equip workers Multiply leaders, ministries & churches Mentoring is a key tool for sharing with Jesus in multiplying leaders. In this extended session today we’re talking about CHURCH FORWARD through “staying the course” – being skillful and persistent in walking in step with the Spirit to pursue Jesus’ Great Commission strategy which involves: Winning the lost to Christ Building the believers in their love for Christ. This morning Dan spoke about nurturing new and established believers. Equipping the workers. This afternoon Dan told us about equipping willing workers for both building other believers and for winning the lost And now we add a fourth part of the strategy: Multiplying the shepherd-leaders who will then, in turn, lead disciplemaking ministry segments This fourth piece is crucial. So crucial that I will say this: the capacity of a congregation to grow both qualitatively and quantitatively is directly proportional to the capacity and capability of its shepherd leaders. And so we seek to multiply shepherd-leaders who will then lead the whole congregation and its individual ministry segments to know Christ, to love Christ, to work with Christ. ALL FOR CHRIST’S GLORY – all to advance his Kingdom.
