Education The educational aims of zoos and aquariums should include the following: to excite, enthuse and interest people about the natural world; to encourage understanding of conservation issues and visitors individual roles in them; to develop public support and action to address conservation concerns at a variety of levels; to provide a range of experiences, materials and resources for the diversity of visitors, to enable them to make informed choices in their daily lives which benefit the environment and wildlife; to develop a sense of place as humans in the natural world and an understanding of the relevance of conservation to everyday life.

Conservation Education Education is a critical part of building support and understanding of field conservation projects among local communities in range countries. Indeed, in situ projects are doomed to failure in the long term if the local people are not involved and if the underlying causes of habitat loss and the threats to species are not addressed.
