Motivational –The internal interests that lead students to want to learn and to put in the effort required for learning What strategies will I use to: stimulate and maintain students’ interest? help students see the relevance of the information? increase students confidence and satisfaction in learning?
Orientation-Knowing where you are in relation to your intended objective. The purpose is to help students see what they have previously learned what they are currently learning and what they’ll subsequently learn.It is used to : introduce a lesson move from one part of the lesson to the next summarize the lesson

Dealing with Inappropriate Behavior Coping Strategies With-it-ness Overlappingness Desist behaviors (Kounin 1970) With-it-ness refers to a teacher’s ability to accurately monitor all that is happening in the classroom ,including misbehavior.Teachers who are with it spot these behaviours immediately. Overlappingness-the ability to deal with more than one classroom activity or episode at a time .it also refers to the teacher’s ability to inconspicuously deal with a particular misbehavior so the lesson is not interrupted. Desist behaviors- When deviant behaviouur is judged serious enough to warrant a teacher response ,it is known as a desist incident.(Serious enough to lead to further widening management problems).Three teacher desist behaviour are: Clarity-the degree to which a teacher specifies what is wrong Firmness-The degree to which a teacher communicates “I mean it” Rougness- The degree to which a teacher expresses anger.(assertive discipline)
Teachers can exhibit appropriate dominance 1. Establish clear expectations and consequences · Use a wide variety of verbal and physical reactions to students’ misbehavior
Cue the class about expected behaviors through prearranged signals Provide tangible recognition of appropriate behavior Employ group contingency policies that hold the entire group responsible for behavioral expectations
