2-6 Ratio and Proportion Goal: Solve a proportion by cross-multiplying. Eligible Content: A1.1.2.1.1 / A1.1.2.1.2 / A1.1.2.1.3

Vocabulary Rate – The ratio of two measurements having different units of measure. Unit Rate – amount for 1 unit. Examples: $12 per shirt 35 miles per hour $8.50 per hour 3 pieces of pizza per person

Vocabulary Ratio – the relationship of two quantities that are measured in the same unit. Proportion – an equation that sets two ratios equal to each other.

Vocabulary Solve – find the value of the variable that makes the proportion true. Cross-Multiplication – multiplying the diagonals together to solve a proportion.

Solve the Proportion Cross Multiply Solve for x
