Description A disease which affects the skin and joints It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin which are areas of inflammation and skin production It frequently occurs on the skin of the elbows and knees, but can affect any area including the scalp and genitals. Is not contagious

Cause 2 HYPOTHESIS Is not fully understood The problem is a fault of the epidermis and its keratinocytes which the excessive reproduction of skin cells is secondary to factors produced by the immune system

Excessive alcohol consumption Sign and Symptoms Patches of dry, red skin Inflammation of skin Aggravating Factors Stress Excessive alcohol consumption Smoking

Treatment Varies with Each individual Dermatologists often use a trial-and-error approach The patient’s age, gender, quality of life, and attitude toward risks associated with the treatment are also taken into consideration. Medicated ointments usually cure the infection Skin exposer to ultraviolet (UV) radiation (Phototherapy) can also heal the skin
