Question of the day First name, last name, group number If you could have any career in the world, what would it be and why?

The Interview In pairs, stage an interview with student A and student B. Then switch roles. Student A: Offer tea or coffee Ask Student B to: Tell you about themselves For the best number to contact them on tomorrow If they would like to work abroad If there are any hours they wouldn’t be able to work Find out Student B’s ability to: Speak any languages Use Excel, PowerPoint or Publisher Drive

“Tell me about yourself” What specifically does the interviewer want to know about you when they say: “Tell me about yourself” ? What should you NOT include when answering this question? How long should your response be? What should you do before the interview to show that you are knowledgeable about the company?

“Tell me about yourself” What are the three different sections you should include in your response? What did the interviewee in the video do well? What qualities should you focus on in your response? What do you ultimately want to get across at the end of the interview?

Homework for next class For homework, write an “elevator speech” for yourself applying to a job of your choice. Your elevator speech should be 30-45 seconds long. (see document on website for tips on “elevator speeches”)
