Bacteria can be Found Everywhere https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEwzDydciWc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RuZcdA9GXg

Objectives: to take bacterial swabs from places around Ironwood Ridge. to inoculate (swab) Petri dish with bacterial culture and monitor growth to count bacterial colonies to find out where bacteria are the most numerous to determine what kind of environmental conditions influence bacterial growth

Materials: 1 Petri dish with agar per group (of 3) cotton Q-tips Masking Tape (parafilm)  Grease pencil (sharpie)  Incubator

Bottom of the Petri dish!!!!

Procedure: I’ll divide the divide the dish into 4 equal parts with a sharpie & number 1-4. Write your groups’ initials and period on a tiny piece of masking tape and stick to your Petri dish (DO NOT OPEN IT YET!)

Bottom of the Petri dish!!!!

Don’t touch these with your fingertips, you will contaminate your sample

CONTROL!!! No swab… NO Sample!!!

Make sure your Petri dish is sealed with parafilm, labeled with masking tape and is upside down in the incubator

-----------STOP--------------------- Hypothesis: Where do you think you will find the highest amount of bacteria? What do you think the Petri dish will look like in 2-3 days? -----------STOP---------------------
