What is Chief Executive Officer - CEO? A chief executive officer (CEO) is the highest ranking executive in a company. Their first responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall company and resources of a company as well as being the main point of communication between the board of directors and corporate operations. The role of CEO differs from one company to another depending on the size of the company and it’s overall structure. CEO of Smaller companies often has a much more hands on role in the company where as larger companies, the CEO typically deals with only higher level company strategy and directing overall growth.

About my future career CEOs work from their company, office and sometimes home. The salary range varies for CEO but the average for CEOs range usually between $582,291 - $946, 406. The salary can vary widely depending on variety of factors. The CEOs surveyed reported that they work 57.8 hours per week and 10-11 hours per day. They also spend an average of 2.5 hours in meetings every day.

Does my job has a chance of becoming automated? Being a Chief Executive Officer means you have to make professional and personal connections with other organizations. You have to be able to manage and make strategic ideas for the company and present your visions of the company to your employees. I don’t think a robot can all that and more.

Chief Executive Officer would be great for me because… I am an extrovert who is eager to go out and share my or my work’s stories I am able to adapt easily I am able to take control of a situation and I believe I have strong leadership skills.

I am not quite ready for this career, but I will get there! These are some things I find less appealing about this career… In some cases, the CEO of smaller company’s responsibility becomes muddles. For example in a smaller company or in a company’s start-up phases, the chief executive officer may also be serving as the chief financial officer (CFO) and the chief operating officer (COO) which leads to lack of clarity as well as an overworked executive.

I intend to go to University of British Columbia for that career University of British Columbia is located in Vancouver. I would take the Dual Degree program offered at UBC which lets me get two bachelors as well as study abroad in France for two years. I will earn a Bachelor in Faculty of arts as well as a Bachelor in Commerce. The program is 4 years long but I intend to continue on with MBA after the program. The first two years I study in France, I pay tuition to the partner university which will cost me €10,150/year. The last two year I will pay tuition to UBC which will cost me about $7,700/year.
