Hospital Emergency Code Quiz Code Red FIRE Call 644 (911 outside hospital) Rescue- Rescue those in danger Alarm- Pull the alarm Confine- Confine the fire by closing doors Extinguish- Use an extinguisher, if the fire is small and trained to do so. (3’ x 3’ maximum area involved) Emergency Preparedness Guide Quiz

Code Blue and Code White Code Blue - Adult Medical Emergency Call 666 (911 Outside of Hospital) Code White - Pediatric Medical Emergency

Code Amber Infant/ Child Abduction Notify Security (x 655) or as directed by unit protocol (911 outside hospital as well) Cover all interior stairwell doors, elevator areas and exiting doors Immediately search the entire unit Protect the crime scene

Code Triage Disaster Activated by Administration Report back to assigned department Communicate with personnel pool (if stood up will be cafeteria in hospital)

Code Yellow Bomb / Bomb Threat Dial x655 (911 outside hospital) Activate chain of command Screen the call and use the telephone checklist in the trifold Report suspicious items to Security and/or police if outside the hospital setting

Code Orange Hazardous Materials Incident Notify Environmental Safety X2905 (856-342-2905 outside hospital) Dial X644 (911 outside hospital) Follow Decon Team protocol and/or spill response If spill is large, involves evacuation or injuries/illnesses activate the IMT via 856-968-7900

Code Gray Security Emergency / Patient Elopement Dial x655 and activate chain of command (911 outside of hospital for a Security Emergency) Attempt to verbally deescalate the situation If physical assault attempted, remove yourself from the situation Stay clear from area/notify others Activate IMT via 856-968-7900

Code Silver Person with a Weapon / Hostage situation / Active Shooter - (Run, Hide, Fight) DO NOT enter the area Dial x655 (911 outside hospital Follow directions from Security and/or police NOTE: May be directed to stay in area if person is isolated to another building/floor

Code Clear Announced by operator/IMT The situation has been cleared by Administration / Security / Police / Fire / Emergency Management Resume normal activities Not utilized for Code White or Code Blue
