CAP after 2020 AT expectations Secure food supply for the European population Maintenance of the production means and meeting of societal expectations Stabilisation of agricultural markets; development of safety nets Safeguarding and creation of jobs Support for entrepreneurship Creation of training and education services Increase of regional production in all rural areas Development of the socio-economic vitality of rural areas Maintenance of various kinds of infrastructure Providing perspectives for the rural people, in particular for the youth

Corner Stones AT Position (1/2) CAP should remain a strong common European Policy both for Agriculture and the Rural Areas CAP position within the MFF should be central; no tendency towards re- nationalisation; provide for national co-financing as currently known Secure and enforce sustainability and multifunctionality Direct payments are a very important instrument to support farmers in times of different uncertainties; the are a tried and tested risk management tool Core elements: Agri-environment and maintenance of agriculture in mountain and other disadvantaged areas Financial remuneration for services which the society is asking for, and which are delivered by farmers, like protection of resources, the environment, nature or climate; as well as higher animal welfare standards and the maintenance of the landscape Family farms are the preferred types of holdings – nevertheless alllow for diversity in structures

Corner Stones AT Position (2/2) Strengthening of competitiveness and innovation ability of agricultural holdings Focus on the production of high quality products and respective marketing strategies Covering of domestic needs where possible Development of safety nets in case of market disruptions, natural disasters or plagues New approaches regarding flexible production control instruments in difficult market situations Rural Development should remain an important pulse generator for the rural economy, by comprising a broad set of measures Understandable and practical rules
