DITP Primary and Secondary Flows 1999-2012 (MGD) 2011 fairly wet, 2012 fairly dry

DITP Solids Discharges 1999-2012 (Tons/Day)

DITP Metals Discharges 1999-2012 (Pounds/Day)

DITP Mercury Discharges 1999-2012 (Pounds/Day)

DITP Chlordane, 4-4DDE and PCBs Discharges 2006-2012 (Pounds/Day)

DITP Total NOAA PAHs Discharges 2006-2012 (Pounds/Day)

Marine debris sampling Neuston net towed at control (N01) and outfall (N21) stations Every survey through 2010, 4 surveys after blending events 2011 and 2012 Net towed for approximately 0.5 km Contents of net photographed and observations recorded Outfall site Control site

Net tow in progress

Results of 2011-2012 net tows after blending events

Net tow contents after Mar 7-9 2011 Blending 223.75 MG primary-only Control site 1 small piece of trash bag noted Outfall site Fat particles, 1 small piece of latex noted

Net tow contents after March 16, 2011 Blending 11.56 MG primary-only Control site Styrofoam, piece of plastic tarp noted Outfall site Fat particles, styrofoam pieces noted 2 condoms observed (not in net)

Net tow contents after May 10, 2012 blending 11.83 MG primary-only Control site Small pieces of plastic noted Outfall site Fat particles, bottle seal noted

Net tow results after July 18, 2012 blending 18.48 MG primary-only Control site Small pieces of plastic and cellophane Outfall site Fat particles noted Tampon applicator seen, not in net

Tabulation of debris in net tows 2000-2012 136 surveys including 4 post-blending surveys Debris present 69% of outfall site –mostly fat particles 40% of control site Fat particles present 49% of outfall site 5% control site Sightings of sewage-related debris 3 at outfall site 2 at control site

Summary net tows Aesthetic impacts minimal 3 instances of sewage-related debris at outfall site after 134 net tows Fat particles typify outfall-related debris Fat particles concentrated in nets, only occasionally visible in field Other debris such as paper and plastic found in net tows, but in small amounts and tiny pieces and at both locations
