S2 JFK Investigation Instructions:

You will use the next ___ weeks in History to complete an investigation on American History. The focus of your investigation will be on the assassination of the American President in 1963. You can use the materials (DVD’s, class workbooks etc) to help and should look for resources beyond the classroom (internet, libraries etc).

You will be expected to hand in your completed project no later than ___________. You will do the first three sections of the investigation and then chose one more of your own.

Section 1 – a popular president – the life of JFK You should use the class workbook and also find other information to explain about the life of President Kennedy. Describe about his family life. Explain why he was popular in America (think about who he tried to help).

Section 2 – The Assassination of JFK Use the class workbook and find other information to explain about the assassination. Explain about the evidence surrounding the murder and the man who has been blamed for killing the President!

Section 3 – Conspiracy theory Use the class workbook and find other information to explain about the various conspiracy theories surrounding the murder of JFK. You should try to come to a conclusion – do you think one of these groups was involved or was it one lone gunman (explain why you have decided this)?

Section 4 – Free choice Research and explain anything to do with America and/ or American History. You pick and explain it in your own words!

Project work in class: Front of your jotter for your project! It should be well presented, factual and colourful! Back of your jotter for rough work, notes and ideas for your project!

How your project will be graded? Projects are marked out of 20: 5 for presentation 5 for information content 5 for research (main topics & free choice) 5 for overall effort 11-13 = 3 14-16 = 2 17-20 = 1
