SWE Strategic Goals Professional Excellence GOAL 1: SWE will develop women engineers at all stages of their personal and professional lives. Globalization GOAL 2: SWE will be recognized as a global, inclusive organization, promoting diversity and inclusion and serving women engineers wherever they are. Advocacy GOAL 3: SWE will advocate for the inclusion and success of women, present and prospective, in engineering and technology.

Strategic Goal #1 – Professional Excellence GOAL 1: SWE will develop women engineers at all stages of their personal and professional lives. Strategic Objective Operational Goal 1.1 Develop an education-, experience-, and exposure-based portfolio for all career and life stages and paths 1.1.1 Investigate the programming needs of international members and develop a plan for serving this member segment Owner: Executive Director 1.2 Develop new markets and strengthen existing markets for the education, experience, and exposure portfolio. 1.2.1 Investigate the needs of small businesses and the women in these organizations as well as the needs of female entrepreneurs and propose options for serving these member segments Owner: Speaker of the Senate

Strategic Goal #2 – Globalization GOAL 2: SWE will be recognized as a global, inclusive organization, promoting diversity and inclusion and serving women engineers wherever they are. Strategic Objective Operational Goal 2.1 Partner with global employers to promote the SWE brand. 2.1.1 Conduct at least 3 employer roundtables in various target geographies; create list of deliverables and a timeline for implementation Owner: Executive Director 2.2 Partner with other organizations to promote achievement of common goals through the SWE brand. 2.2.1 Investigate opportunities for SWE to collaborate and partner with other organizations to achieve our diversity & inclusion, advocacy, and member services goals.

Strategic Goal #2 – Globalization GOAL 2: SWE will be recognized as a global, inclusive organization, promoting diversity and inclusion and serving women engineers wherever they are. Strategic Objective Operational Goal 2.3 Develop a flexible SWE governance structure that supports globalization and inclusion. 2.3.1 Create a 3 to 5 year transition plan to phase in all approved findings of the consultant. Owner: Director of Strategic Initiatives 2.3.2 Expand and continue to implement the ambassadors and affiliates programs. Evaluate and implement lessons learned from inaugural year. Owner: Executive Director

Strategic Goal #3 – Advocacy GOAL 3: SWE will advocate for the inclusion and success of women, present and prospective, in engineering and technology. Strategic Objective Operational Goal 3.1 Lead advocacy efforts with government and through the media. 3.1.1 Develop and launch resources for members to advocate at the local level Owner: Director of Advocacy 3.2 Provide resources for individuals to advocate for the Society’s Mission and for themselves. 3.2.1 Evaluate existing programs and services to determine remaining gaps to support advocacy efforts Owner: Director of Advocacy 3.2.1 Develop and implement new awards in FY16 per Awards Strategy Owner: Director of Strategic Initiatives

Strategic Goal #3 – Advocacy GOAL 3: SWE will advocate for the inclusion and success of women, present and prospective, in engineering and technology. Strategic Objective Operational Goal 3.3 Create opportunities for and improve access to careers in engineering and technology by impacting those who influence career choices for women and girls. 3.3.1 Increase exposure of and participation in SWE Next program Owner: Director of Regions 3.4 Advocate with employers and academic institutions for the recruitment, retention and advancement of women on women’s own terms. 3.4.1 Define and identify partnership opportunities between industry and SWE’s academic community Owner: Director of Membership Initiatives 3.4.2 Implement best practices for sections to work with employee networking, affinity, or resource groups Owner: Director of Membership Initiatives
