What is a Curriculum Vitae? A Curriculum Vitae (CV) is a summary of your educational and academic background The purpose of the CV also known as resume is to inform prospective employers of a job seeker's qualifications and experience for a position

Writing your resume A successful resume should tell not only what you have done in the past, but what you believe you could do in the future. Never feel you have nothing to write about. Take the time to think about yourself and plan carefully how you should write these things down to convince your future employer that you are the ideal candidate for the job he or she has to offer.

Describing yourself Experience Interests Skills Personal qualities

Experience Include everything that refers to your education, any professional training, periods of employment, including part-time jobs or internships, any volunteer work, and any long periods of time in which you focused on a particular activity (e.g., foreign travel, language learning).

Interests How you spend your spare time says a lot about your personality. Include other non-job-related skills you might have as a result of a personal interest or hobby.

Skills Write down all your skills. If you have had previous work experience, no matter how short, ask yourself these questions: -Which skills did I use here that I already had? -Which skills did I improve on or consolidate? -What new skills did I learn?

Skills Also, think about any activity you may have been involved in while at school or university that would have developed any of the following skills: -organizing events -meeting the public -interviewing -training staff -chairing meetings -giving advice -supervising -making presentations -problem shooting

Personal Qualities Write down any of the words from the box that you think apply to you. Use any other words that describe you as well.

Personal Qualities Careful Committed Good time manager Hardworking Independent worker Logical Loyal Methodical Orderly Organized Positive Cooperative Courteous Practical Relaxed Reliable Self-confident Self-motivated Thorough Works well under pressure Works well with others Accurate Adaptable Creative Decisive Dedicated Energetic Extrovert Flexible Friendly Good communicator Good sense of humor
