Research Questions The candidate I am profiling is: Barack Obama.   The candidate I am profiling is: Barack Obama. The political party this candidate is representing is: Democratic What other political offices has the person has this person had in his career? He was elected Illinois senate in 1996. What prior political and leadership experience does this candidate have that makes him qualified to be the next president? He has a better opportunity of becoming the next president because he has already been president previously the last four years, and he in his early career he was elected Illinois senate in 1996.

Abortion For this issue Obama’s stance is Liberal. He isn’t against women having abortions, women are allowed to decide what happens to her body. “I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption.”

Education   Current President Obama’s position on Education for all students in the United States is to financially help them so they can have a better future with a good career. By financially helping middle class families, he doubled the investment in financial aid and in scholarships so getting into a college financially will not be an issue. Obama is more concerned about the future of the United States which is the students more then the money needed to provide their education. He is also preparing students for the challenges they will be facing once they are in college by working to raise K-12 standards by turning around low performing schools so that children are prepared for college and careers. He’s conservative because he’s trying to encourage school’s to improve performance.

Health Care   President Obama’s position on health care for all American citizens is for the middle class to have a basic cornerstone security. He makes health care more affordable for families and small businesses. With the Affordable Care Act it keeps insurance companies from taking advantage of consumers. When the law is finally passed, about 95 percent of Americans under age 65 will have insurance. When it comes to health care he’s liberal because he’s trying to make health care affordable for Americans.

Economy   President Obama is liberal in this issue because he is trying to protect middle classed citizens from the greed of big business. By doing this, he has helped hard working middle classed families by cutting taxes. He has extended the payroll tax cut for all American workers and their families. This has helped put an extra $1,000 in a families pocket. This $1,000 would have gone to taxes, but instead it just might have made one child’s Christmas better at home. Obama has proposed the Buffet Rule, asking millionaires to do their fair share.

Gun Control Some citizens in the U.S prefer to have the right to bear arms by having a gun in their home as protection. Obama is Conservative and agrees with some of these citizens. Obama said “I think it’s important for us to recognize that we’ve got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families.”

Same Sex Marriage Obama is once again a Liberal when it comes to same sex marriage. He believes it should be legal for people who love each other to get married no matter if they are the same sex or not. He supports lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders. Obama believes that everyone should have a right to be legally married.

Immigration As for immigration Obama is for it. “They must get right with the law before they can get in line and earn their citizenship,” says Obama. He’s all for immigration but they just have to do everything for them to be a citizen in the U.S. Immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally can just register to become a U.S. citizen.

Global Warming For global warming Obama is battling it by reducing carbon emissions. Also he is trying to get other countries on board. As he says, "Ultimately, what we want is a mechanism whereby all countries are making an effort," Obama told reporters today in Australia. "And it's going to be a tough slog, particularly at a time when a lot of economies are still struggling. But I think it's actually one that, over the long term, can be beneficial."

Affirmative Action & Taxes Obama is conservative on affirmative action. He believes that everyone deserves an equal opportunity for a job and same education. Obama is liberal on taxes. He believes that the “rich people” should have higher taxes and the government should use those tax dollars to help the needy and “poor people”.
