Presentation transcript:

March 23rd, 2017 Learning Target: I will be able to describe the front lines and the POV of soldiers who experienced the Vietnam War. Literacy Target: To gain general knowledge and content specific expertise Opener:                          Interviewer: Did you have any difficulties readjusting since you returned?  Veteran: Yes. I went through maybe about 90 days of depression... It was just finding myself again and trying to cope with some of the feelings that I had and some of the animosity that was felt by the...civilian people… It was horrible that you had to deal with feelings from the war. You had to deal with these people around you who looked down their noses at you and thought you were the enemy or some curse that had come back to them... and I wasn’t that close to the Lord then. I prayed frequently, but I found a lot of my relief in alcohol. I’m fortunate, I didn’t get hung up on it like many men did and go to other drugs that were stronger and more addictive than alcohol.

POV The Things they Carried Valor

Closure How have the perspectives of Vietnam soldiers changed how you think about the war? Self-Evaluation (1-4) “Today I learned…”
