GREEN CLEANING 1998 Switched to a single automatic chemical dispensing system. 2006 Ron Segura visits With the support of Nichols, we began implementing green chemicals, processes, and equipment.
CHEMICALS GVSU chooses cleaning chemicals that are non-flammable, non-corrosive, contain little or no solvents, and cause no respiratory problems. Our daily use chemicals: glass cleaner, multi purpose cleaner, neutral cleaner, and peroxide based cleaner are Green Seal approved.
FLOOR WAX We are switching to “green” floor waxes that are either: Green Seal approved. Very low maintenance (3 part urethane).
PAPER PRODUCTS GVSU uses: 100% recycled paper towel and toilet paper. Ecologo certified.
MICRO FIBER GVSU uses micro fiber cleaning cloths: Reduces the amount of chemical needed. Increased soil removal.
EQUIPMENT GVSU has begun buying vacuums meeting Carpet and Rug Institute air standards. Orbital scrubbing machines with industrial pads to strip floors with water. Touch-less machines for rest room cleaning.
SOFTWARE Clean Ops Software Enter each building, room, usage description, square footage, floor covering, & desired cleanliness level. Inspect all buildings and set our base line. Clean Ops will calculate FTEs needed, can be used for schedule writing
