TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS Tuesday– Ethical Dilemma Of The Week Monday – Literary Term Of The Week Introduce students to a new literary term at the start of each week using a modern example (music lyrics, TV, moves, novels, celebrities, engaging images etc). In their Literary Terms Booklet, have students write a definition down and provide their own example. They can spend that week bringing in their own examples of the term to add to a ‘Literary Term Bulletin Board’ in your room! Tuesday– Ethical Dilemma Of The Week Engage students in discussion with ethical dilemmas. You can do this as a whole class, or break students into small groups to discuss and report back. Students will practice their debate skills with this bell-ringer. Wednesday– Quote of The Week Introduce an inspirational quote to your students as a writing prompt. Students respond to the prompt by explaining what it means and how it relates/applies to their own lives. Thursday– Video Journal Of The Week Get your students’ attention every time with an engaging Video Journal Prompt! Students watch a modern and relevant video clip on YouTube and respond in writing to a related prompt. Friday– Silent Reading On Fridays, let your students choose their own text for silent reading! There is one slide for this at the beginning of the document that you can use each week.
