Background Advanced Gamma Tracking Array (AGATA) is a spectrometer used to probe fundamental properties of atomic nuclei Over 350 scientists across over 40 research institutes Detects gamma-rays emitted when nuclei are excited into a higher energy state by a collision, using radioactive and stable ion beams at facilities across Europe Full array: there will be 180 large volume 36-fold segmented Ge crystals in 60 triple-clusters

How does nuclear shell structure evolve in exotic neutron-rich nuclei? How do collectivity and pairing correlations change in neutron-rich nuclei? What is the structure of the heaviest nuclear systems? What are the limits of the high-spin domain? Gamma-ray resolving Power Year

Analysis of data offline AGATA array: 6840 channels, continuously digitised by sampling 14-bit ADCs at 100MHz Pre-processing in FEE’s, 600ns data packets sent to PC farms that run PSA algorithms with data rates 370MB/s PSA used to determine gamma-ray interaction positions, fed into the tracking algorithms and sent to a grid centre Analysis of data offline AGATA Data

Milestones Identification of potential toplogical analysis methods for project Implementation and testing of methods Application of techniques to source and in-beam data Performance and impact evaluation
