Research paper Assignment Day! Journal: Think of UHS...the cleanliness of the bathrooms, the discipline system, or even the lunch lines. Is there a THESIS statement that you could make (that you believe to be true AND COULD DEFEND) about these things? Once you have that statement– write that down. Then defend your statement with 3 claims/or reasons. In other words– create a thesis about UHS’ student environment and explain why your thesis is correct. Step 1: Sign up for Gmail. Journal submissions: Click on the blue button in the top right that says “share”. Make sure you click “Can comment” or “Can edit” on the document. Type my email into it mscastaldouhs@gmail.com. Then share it with me.

Research Project TOPICS You will be selecting your topic today and creating your thesis. You will also be submitting that thesis for me and I will tell you whether or not it is approved. 

Topic Selection: You must choose only 1! How has gaming (Pokemon Go, Geocaching, etc.) affected peoples’ perception of the environment? How has technology affected our view and care of the environment? How does the building of cities (urbanization) affect the environment? How has climate change affected people’s access to food and water? How does hunting help or hurt the environment? How is eating organically better for the environment? Select your topic, then copy that topic down into a Google Doc. Then in that same document– create a thesis for me. I will then reply to tell you if that is an approved thesis or not. Once I reply– you can start researching for sources.

When you are finished with your vocab quiz– turn it into the bin and grab a laptop. Open to Google docs to see if you got a thesis reply– if you did not let me know. Once you got thesis approval—start looking for sources to support your thesis. If you did not get thesis approval– continue to work on your thesis.
