Anatomical planes
Anatomical planes – frontal Divides the body into front and back sections (anterior and posterior) Joint action example Abduction and adduction
Anatomical planes – sagittal Divides the body into left and right sections (can be uneven) Joint action example Flexion and extension

Joint action- rotation Covered at level 2 – however It is also possible to rotate ball and socket joints. For example, turning the leg inwards towards the middle of the body (internal or medial rotation). Turning the leg outwards away from the centre of the body (external or lateral rotation)
