What the Ladybird heard Julia Donaldson By Emily, Alyson and Katie.

Trailer on imovie… We made a trailer on iMovie. Positives: Simple to use and the steps were clear and easy to follow. Themes were already chosen for you, e.g. music, layout. Children could use, with the help/guidance of an adult Negatives: Could not add own sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqB17kcZZx0

Puppet pals We made different videos on puppet pals, and then merged them together on iMovie. Positives: Very simple and easy to use. Children could use this programme unassisted, once shown what to do. Records sound and movements at the same time. Groups of children could work on this app at the same time. Can put in own characters and backdrops. Negatives: Cannot create small videos and merge together. Can only have a certain number of backdrops and characters. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1z1gDYBFJA

Uses of our imovie trailer Use for imagination activity: e.g. What do you think the ladybird’s plan was? Starter for learning about farm animals Starter for learning about minibeasts Starter for discussion about morals, e.g. right and wrong.

Puppet Pal movie Topic about storytelling: creating own stories, beginning middle and end in a story. Starter for discussion about ‘shy’ people. How could the animals on the farm make the Ladybird feel more included/happier? Role play activity: acting out the story. Discussion/topic starter about hero’s and heorine’s.
