Objective Students will be able to evaluate each Captain of Industry/Robber Baron by completing a gallery walk and writing an essay.

Captain of Industry vs. Robber Baron The term captain views these men as viewed ingenious and industrious leaders who transformed the American economy with their business skills. This term refers to these men as cruel and ruthless businessmen who would stop at nothing to achieve great wealth. These "robber barons" were accused of exploiting workers and forcing horrible working conditions and unfair labor practices upon the laborer.

Classwork: Gallery Walk Walk around the room and use the posters your classmates made to fill out the chart on the third page of your research packet.

CW/HW: Captain or Robber? Answer the essay question on the back in the form of a thorough and well-written paragraph.
