G.B.Shaw Pygmalion

Biography was an Irish playwright, critic, journalist George Bernard Shaw was born in Synge Street, Dublin in 1856. His father was Bernard Shaw, an unsuccessful grain merchant . His mother was Elisabeth Shaw, a professional singer. George went to local schools but never went to university and was largely self-taught. (He was influenced by R.Wagner, H.Ibsen, and K.Marx) Shaw moved to London in March, 1876. He hoped to become a writer but during the next seven years wrote five unsuccessful novels. Shaw joined the Social Democratic Federation Instead, in 1884, he joined the newly formed Fabian Society, which accorded with his belief that reform should be gradual and induced by peaceful means rather than by revolution. He is the only person to have been awarded both the Nobel Prize for Literature (1925) and an Oscar (1938). (These were for his contributions to literature and for his work on the film Pygmalion) grain merchant- obchodník s obilím

In the process, Higgins and Doolittle grow close, but she ultimately rejects his domineering ways and declares she will marry Freddy Eynsford-Hill – a young, poor, gentleman.
